| yehey!!! i caught my first trout.(do you like fishing?) | | my hubby likes to fish so i go with him fishing everywhere he wants to go fishing and most of the time i don't catch anything even if i try really hard. i guess im not good with it. anyway, just yesterday when we went out to go fishing in the stream i caught my first trout! it bit so hard that i don't know what to do, but my husband said to play with it for a while until it gets tired, i didn't really expect i would catch a trout that day. its my first trout actually, i did catch some different fish b4 but not rainbow trout. it's pretty and i was so happy, the feeling is just great to catch a fish. my husband helped me reeled it in. it's a 1foot trout with nice pinkish color. i will never forget that day because it's our anniversary. hehehe. if you want to see my 1st trout that i caught just view the pic here. | | Fishing Season Opens - Grandson is Excited! | | Fishing season opens this week and my grandson is thrilled! He has already gotten his pole out and has been practicing his casting skills. The weather isn't great, getting cold again, so we will have to wait another week or more before we can hit the rivers and lakes to do some serious fishing. School vacation starts the week of April 16th, he may have to wait until then to cast a line. Hopefull this is the last of the snow and warm weather will be upon us. | |
| | A cat named Chicken | | Watching the news about Ike and they have a family who is sheltering at family and had/has 18 people in the house - 8 dogs and a cat named Chicken.I was thinking - WHY is that familure? Then I remembered. One of my favorite groups, Trout Fishing in America, has a song about a cat named Chicken Joe.I'm wondering if the people who are sheltering here in town are also Trout Fishing fans. | |

CBC News has learned that 16 Canadian lakes are slated to be officially but quietly "reclassified" as toxic dump sites for mines. The lakes include prime wilderness fishing lakes from B.C. to Newfoundland. Environmentalists say the process amounts to a "hidden subsidy" to mining companies, allowing them to get around laws against the destruction of fish habitat.Under the Fisheries Act, it's illegal to put harmful substances into fish-bearing waters. But, under a little-known subsection known as Schedule Two of the mining effluent regulations, federal bureaucrats can redefine lakes as "tailings impoundment areas."That means mining companies don't need to build containment ponds for toxic mine tailings.CBC News visited two examples of Schedule Two lakes. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the Vale Inco company wants to use a prime destination for fishermen known as Sandy Pond to hold tailings from a nickel processing plant.In northern B.C., Imperial Metals plans to enclose a remote watershed valley to hold tailings from a gold and copper mine. | | Fishing Season Opening Soon | | I tend to get a little bit of cabin fever before winter is over and I start to itch for my fishing rods.That first day out is like being released from prison. Well not that I have been released from prison but for winter keeps me inside so I feel like I am in prison.Usually my first trips out are for brook trout. My wife and I love a good feed of brook trout in the early season before the water warms up.I was introduced to fishing by a foster brother when I was eight and didn't think I had much to look forward to in life. He showed me that there is more to life than all that negative stuff we have to put up with in our daily lives.I took my son brook trout fishing when he was about 6 or 8 and we made it a lot of fun with more than just fishing. Kids tend to have short attention spans and making them fish too long can have lasing negative effect.What are your fishing experience? | |
