Columbia Kootenay Fisheries Renewal Partnership

 

Membership:

The CKFRP is principally a partnership among organizations. Membership in the partnership is open to organizations which support (in writing) the mission, values and vision of the partnership as identified in the 1999 CKFRP 'Implementation Strategy' and as may be amended from time to time. Membership in the partnership is also open to individuals not affiliated with a member organization whom support the mission, values and vision of the partnership.

Current members include:

  • Canadian Columbia River Inter-tribal Fisheries Commission
  • Salmo Watershed Streamkeepers Society
  • Wildsight
  • Fisheries Branch, Ministry of Water, Land & Air Protection, Kootenay Region
  • Lower Sand Creek Restoration Group
  • Fraser Headwaters Alliance
  • Ktunaxa Nation Council


Steering Committee:

The partnership is governed by a steering committee consisting of representatives of the following sectors:

  • Tourism (Barry Rogers - Wasa, BC)
  • Environmental Non-Government Organizations (Pat Field - West Kootenay Resident and Doug Peck - BC Wildlife Federation)
  • Recreational anglers (Paul Piro - Queens Bay)
  • First Nations (Jim Clarricoates -Ktunaxa Nation Council)
  • Government agencies (Jeff Burrows- Ministry of Water, Land & Air Protection)
  • Stewardship organizations (Gerry Nellestijn - Salmo Watershed Streamkeepers Society)
  • Federal Government (Bruce MacDonald - Department of Fisheries and Oceans)

    Elections to the steering committee are made at general meetings. Aboriginal, Federal and Provincial government representatives are appointed.
