PROGRAMS
Environmental
stewardship and public education program
The Columbia Basin Trust provided $100,000 per year in 1999
and 2000 to the CKFRP for this program. The goals of the program
are:

To promote
environmental stewardship, public education and awareness
-
To create
opportunities for community involvement and local empowerment
-
To increase
community responsibility and ownership of actions and their
impacts
-
To strengthen
human community links to biotic communities
-
To build
understanding, abilities and skills for informed choice
making through education and active involvement in stewardship
activities
-
To incorporate
values of community, neighbours helping neighbours, empathy
and integrity in stewardship and education activities
The priority objectives
for the program are:

To develop
community direction, coalitions and partnerships for community-based
stewardship organizations and programs.

To support
skill development and training necessary to build stewardship
capacity within the community.

To provide
tools necessary for project implementation.
