Murphy Creek
side-channel intake modifications $11,553
The Trail Wildlife
Association has constructed and operates a highly successful
side channel adjacent to lower Murphy Creek for spawning, incubation
and early rearing of rainbow trout. The water intake for the
side channel is located a short distance downstream from the
Highway 22 culvert and directly in line with the culvert discharge.
In this location it is subject to damage during spring freshets.
In August 1998 Rheal Finnegan inspected the damage done to the
intake during the 1997 freshet and recommended reconstruction
of a new intake in a less exposed position, and construction
of parallel settling ponds to reduce the deposition of fine
sediments. This project proposes to implement thee recommendations.
