Spawner assessment
of Bonanza Creek $24,909
This project proposal
is a response to community concerns regarding declining fish
populations and loss of spawning habitat in the Bonanza Creek
watershed. Currently, a comprehensive assessment of spawning
habitat and fish abundance does not exist for the Bonanza
Creek watershed. The project will focus on performing spawning
assessment on Bonanza Creek and its tributaries with the intent
of documenting the amount and distribution of spawners, spawning
habitat, limiting factors, and creating public awareness.
Spawner surveys will be conducted in the fall for kokanee
and bull trout, and during the spring for rainbow trout. A
hands on approach will be used to provide training for two
members of the Hills Watershed Committee and Interested community
volunteers.
