Illecillewaet
River Watershed Atlas $2,919
The Illecillewaet
River is a major tributary that enters the Columbia River immediately
downstream of Revelstoke. The river is impacted by a major transportation
corridor (the Trans-Canada Highway and CPR mainline), past mining
and past and present-day forest harvesting. The goal of this
project is to ensure integrated natural and cultural resource
information of the Illecillewaet River watershed is widely available
and easily accessible to aid in future planning, education and
management. The overall objectives of this project are:
1. To produce a resource atlas to summarise and integrate existing
physical, biological and cultural information (both spatial
and temporal) in the Illecillewaet River watershed; and
2. To identify data gaps and research priorities to be used
in the preparation of a Terms of Reference for a comprehensive
assessment of the Illecillewaet River.
During FY99/2000, initial stages of the Resource Atlas will
be produced using existing information and made available on
Columbia Mountains Institute and partner websites.
