The River Speaks - River Art 2000 $6,866

The River Speaks will partner with The Nature Festival Association of BC, BC Festival of the Arts 2000, Kootenay Gallery of Art, History and Science, artists and others to encourage and exhibit Basin works of art. The coordinators will engage dialogue with the artist group to familiarize them with ecosystem based management. This project will explore thoughts, issues, benefits and concerns around this theory and our Basin. Guided snorkel and canoe/drift boat tours will be arranged as well as a 'circle' flight tour. The flight will begin in Nelson, fly down the Salmo River to the confluence of the Pend d'Oreille, continuing on to the confluence of the Columbia, up the Columbia to the confluence of the Kootenay River and returning to Nelson. It is believed that this adventure will inspire six professional and twelve emerging artists to produce works of art that will promote a cultural perspective valuable to share within and beyond basin communities.
