Lower Salmo watershed coarse fish inventory $4,250

A 'coarse fish barrier' weir was constructed at the mouth of the Salmo River when the Seven Mile Dam was constructed on the Pend d'Oreille River in order to keep coarse fish from the reservoir from entering the Salmo River. The weir is in disrepair and thought to be ineffective. This project will: (I) determine the effectiveness of the existing barrier; (ii) determine the distribution of coarse fish within the lower Salmo River; and (iii) provide training to local youth and volunteers.
