Columbia Kootenay Fisheries Renewal Partnership

Kootenay River floodplain and tributary landowner stewardship project $8,000

The first portion of this project is complete. The plan is to proceed with a 4 day workshop, aimed at both professional managers and land owners, in conjunction with a PFC assessment of Wolf Creek. We also intend to give consideration to issues along the main stem Kootenay River in this second stage and hold meeting to bring land owners and interest groups together on Lewis Creek and Cherry Creek.

STEWARDSHIP AREA: Activities will be concentrated along the portion of the Kootenay River from Skookumchuck to Fort Steele, however we will continue to assist people from the Sand Creek, Chipka Creek, and Elk River areas.

AUDIENCE: Our primary audience will be the land owners in the stewardship area. In this second stage we will expand our audience to involve the resource agencies and interest groups with an interest in the area.

ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY: The proponents have professional expertise in the issues of concern here and have experience in assisting public groups in organizing and developing credible organizational structures
