Strategic Planning $20,000

Strategic planning was identified as a key priority for the Columbia Kootenay Fisheries Renewal Partnership during the development of the partnership in early 1999. The CKFRP steering committee decided that further strategic planning could best be accomplished at the major watershed/sub-regional scale. Strategic planning was initiated in the Upper Columbia (Columbia Lake to Mica Dam) and Salmo - Pend d'Oreille River watersheds in early 2000. This project will fund the completion of the strategic plans for these areas. The CKFRP steering committee hopes that DFO will participate in the second phase of the development of these strategic plans as informal pilot projects for the 'Watershed Sustainability Fisheries Planning' program.
