Lasca Creek Kokanee Passage

The West Arm Outdoors Club near Nelson is undertaking a summer project to create a permanent fish passage at Lasca Creek with $8,000 in funding from CKFRP. A stretch of kokanee spawning habitat has been cut off since the 1890s when the CPR built a railway line that crossed the creek. This project, set to begin in mid-July, will raise the creekbed high enough to allow kokanee to travel through the CPR culvert.
