Ethical Use of Water

Jordan Osiowy & Kyle Holland
$5,000
Cranbrook, BC

Students from Mount Baker Secondary School have developed a concept to host a workshop for students from across Canada to raise awareness of the value of water and how our current use patterns are not environmentally sustainable.

A goal of the conference is to create a clear idea of what youth understand and want to be done with water in Canada. It is also to address the issues regarding the ethical uses of water in the world today, with recommendations for the future.

Specific Objectives include:
• Building bridges between mentors and youth;
• Creating a knowledge base for youth making future decisions;
• Fostering a global understanding of water and issues related to it;
• Providing a forum for sharing different perspectives on water resources; cultural, scientific, recreational and economic;
• To explore the interconnectedness of water systems with all aspects of human behaviour, locally, nationally and globally;
• To provide new educational resources, including video and print documents.
