Columbia
River Greenway - $8,000
Greenways are ribbons of protected
open space that link reserves, parks, and cultural sites with
each other and the communities around them. By securing or enhancing
wildlife habitat and pedestrian recreational opportunities they
contribute to conservation, recreation, and growth management.
In the 2004/2004 project year, in partnership with the Mark
Kingsbury Foundation, the CGRA will focus on greenways education
and interpretation. Projects will focus on improving public
awareness and understanding of the need to conserve the grassland
and riparian ecosystems of the Upper Columbia River. The mission
of the CRGA is: to develop a network of linear corridors of
open natural spaces that maintain the wildlife habitat and recreational
legacy of the region and enhance the ecological, economic and
community well-being of the Upper Columbia Valley.
Responsibility
for the conduct of all greenways projects rests with the CRGA
Board of Directors. Where appropriate and feasible the BOD will
contract discrete project components to qualified consultants.
