Mark
Creek 2004-05 Kimberley Schools and Community Awareness Project
- $11,500
The aim of the project is to increase
Kimberley community members’ environmental awareness of
instream and riparian ecological functioning. The project targets
both school classes and the community as a whole. The main types
of activities are education and awareness including school hands-on
restoration activities. The project will benefit the community
by expanding environmental educational opportunities available
to Kimberley schools and the community. This project is important
as local educators and parents have expressed strong support
for the continuation and expansion of the Mark Creek Recovery
Program school activities. In addition the project forwards
one of the goals established by the Mark Creek Advisory Committee
(consists of representatives of community organizations) to
“enhance the educational values of the Mark Creek ecosystem”.
