Salmo Watershed Overview Fish Habitat Assessment - $5,000

SWSS and the Salmo Watershed-based Fish Sustainability planning and technical team want to employ the standardized methods of an Overview and Level 1 Fish Habitat Assessment Procedure in the Salmo River. The SWFHA&RPP will further focus on ‘the Car Body Run’. In this area the procedure they are involved with will contain more prescriptive detail.

This project will benefit the community by laying the groundwork for restoration projects. The ambition to complete restoration projects has been clearly identified in a number of community planning reports (Jobs and the Forest Sector Strategy For Salmo/Ymir Area. 1997, Salmo and Area Strategic Planning, Lynn Betts, 2000) and unanimously supported by the multi-stakeholder Salmo Watershed-based Fish Sustainability Planning participants. Community members look forward to learning the skills inherent in restoration. The SWFHA&RPP is a necessary and appropriate step for restoration of fish habitat and resulting increased fish populations.
