Restoring
Joseph Creek at Kinsmen Park - $20,000
The
Joseph Creek Community action team, representing fourteen local
organizations, is steering a three-phase project:
1. Restore the Kinsmen Park reach of Joseph Creek
2. Educate the public about the benefits of and methods of stream
restoration
3. Implement a Cranbrook water conservation program
The Kinsmen Park reach of Joseph Creek lies just downstream
of Idlewild Park, site of Cranbrook’s original drinking
water reservoir and can be accessed from Victoria Avenue. The
ultimate goal is to teach people the background and benefits
of stream restoration and have them adopt wiser water use behaviour,
particularly in the summer months.
