Salmo River Stream Bank Revetment Project - $6,000

The project will prevent an evulsion of the present Salmo River channel and prevent flooding and damage to private property while increasing fish habitat in a historically channelized section of the Salmo River. The site is located approximately 6km south of the Village of Salmo. The river is currently threatening to ‘break’ through a low lying section of bank and into open fields and private property. The project will produce a rootwad and LWD revetment along the low portion of this stream bank. The revetment will be created to known standards (WRP, Rosgen) and will utilize local materials to reduce costs. The project itself will create overhanging and LWD cover for native Salmo River fish species. The total length of the revetment site is approximately 20 meters long. The work will be designed to the 1:200 year peak flow forecast.
