CMI
WORKSHOP SERIES
Columbia
Mountains Institute of Applied Ecology (Revelstoke, BC)
$10,071.00
This
project will support two conferences: Multidisciplinary
Approaches to Recovering Caribou in Mountain Ecosystems
and Bear Conservation in a Fast Changing North America;
to be held in May and October 2006, respectively in Revelstoke,
BC.
Funds will be used to: assist with speaker costs, including
evening speakers open to the community; cover costs to produce
conference summaries (=proceedings) an enduring product that
will be available as free download from the CMI website; and
cover the minimal registration fees for high school students
who wish to attend the events. Information at these events is
beyond the scope of most high school students but they will
gain at least an awareness of the issues; they benefit from
seeing a real "science conference"; and it is good
for them to know that events of this type can be held in the
Revelstoke area.
