HAWKINS
CREEK FISH HABITAT RESTORATION
Hawkins
Creek Stewardship Committee (Yahk, BC)
$10,000.00
Fish
populations throughout the Hawkins Creek watershed are threatened
by habitat degradation. The Hawkins Creek Stewardship Committee,
working with industry and agencies, plans to increase pool habitat,
overhead cover, spawning gravel deposition and overwinter habitat
through the placement of large woody debris structures such
as those used by the BC Watershed Restoration Program and Rosgen
stream restoration methodology. These structures will also serve
to stabilize eroding and undercut banks noted in our 2005f Hydrogeomorphic
assessment (Green, 2005).
