North Kootenay Lake Fruit Tree Project and Bear Smart Project (Kalso, BC)

This project will link volunteer fruit harvesters with fruit tree owners unable to harvest their fruit, providing stewardship of a resource that otherwise would go to waste.

Local families will utilize this fruit and be educated in fruit processing techniques.

This project will educate our communities and schools on how to prevent and reduce bear/human conflict, thereby increasing human safety and conserving the lives of bears by reducing the number of bears (including grizzly bears) destroyed each year.
