Kimberley
Aquatic Ecosystem Stewardship Project - $20,000
Wildsight
Kimberley, BC
The Kimberley Aquatic Ecosystems
Stewardship Project extends the mandate of the well-known Mark
Creek Recovery Program to Mathew, Kimberley and Lois Creek and
other aquatic ecosystems impacted by Kimberley and surrounding
areas. Building on the MCRP’s past achievements, the project
will develop a Kimberley conservation model for sustainable
water management and the awareness and regulatory tools to achieve
this sustainability. The project will increase our scientific
knowledge of two local species at risk, Westslope cutthroat
trout and Coeur d’ Alene salamander, will facilitate the
formation of a new Kimberley Creek stewardship group, and will
continue to deliver hands-on restoration based school programming
as well as aquatic ecosystems awareness and restoration programming
for the community at large.
