Clean Air Project - $20,000
Wildsight Kim/Cran Branch
Kimberley, BC

The Clean Air Project addresses air quality issues in the Kimberley-Cranbrook airshed. Particularly wood smoke and vehicle emissions, which impact human health, visibility and contribute to climate change. A part-time coordinator will deliver or coordinate related educational programs to schools, teachers, businesses and organizations, organize awareness-raising events such as Clean Air Day and Car Free Day, work with local school boards and municipalities on policies and by-laws related to air quality and investigate the feasibility of a) establishing an air quality management plan for the area, b) creating a trucksharing cooperative and c) reducing commuter traffic volumes between Kimberley/Cranbrook through car-pooling and improved commuter transit options.
