Cranberry
Marsh Enhancement Project - $10,000
Ducks
Unlimited Canada
Valmount, BC
The
purpose of this project is to conserve over 110 hectares of
wetland habitat for waterfowl and other wetland-dependent wildlife
by replacing the ageing water control structure at the McKirdy
compartment of Cranberry Marsh. The marsh is a significant component
of a popular wildlife sanctuary with a public loop trail, viewing
platforms and educational signage. The community Valemount will
benefit from this project through the continued existence of
the marsh, which provides both ecotourism opportunities and
a site for local environmental education projects.
